‘’A day with zero pain is under-rated.’’ This is a quote on adulthood that I stumbled upon. Hilarious and couldn’t agree more. It’s about body pain in 30+ people. It’s as if, all your injuries of your 20’s (even the minor ones) are going to magically manifest in your 30s to tell you, “Hey, remember me? I was that small thing that happened long ago. Turns out, you are going to pay for it!”

Biological ageing causes major changes. Post your 30, you’re going to witness major body metamorphosis. I mean, that lateral growth… Gosh! Everything gets wider, bigger and fragile. One funny twist and your back complains. One overzealous jump and your knee cries. Whisk a chocolate batter without a blender and you have sore arms for days. Ok, the last one was a stretch. (Not!) 30 something,  you get the gist, right? Any activity has the ability to turn into catastrophic consequences. Not kidding.

All the physical agony that the body undergoes after any strenuous activity is sometimes bizarre. I can’t help but wonder, if this is something that takes precedence when something else is not working out. Something to do with mental ageing. Don’t get me wrong. Every physical pain is validated and they can occur to anyone at any time. It, in no way, is manifested out of imagination. I am trying to find a link between mental ageing and physical health. 

I perceive my body transformation in the last few years to have been negative. Everything seemed to lead to pain and agony and they were amplified when the mind was not in the best shape. It is befuddling that I behave like an old man when I am only reaching mid-30. I mean, can someone shake me (gently, without hurting a bone) and stop my mental ageing?

Your mind is an intricate, complex ‘being.’ (A separate entity on its own). It can control you. It can make you do things and prevent you from getting things done. As a body-controlling powerhouse, its ability to trick you into believing things that are false and non-existent is astounding. When you are mentally disturbed over a period of time, your mental anguish will begin to focus on physical problems. It’s not necessary that new problems will arise, but your existing pain and aches will be heightened. An ache that you would have easily overcome in the past seems like a mammoth task to fight, on days you are not mentally fit. With growing age, life offers immense problems which makes it all the more important to focus on mental health. Because, if that’s not right, nothing else will be. If we can somehow figure out the cause for any mental agitation, we should address it and fix it as much as we can. A fit mind will help you get through your physical pain too.

Physical injuries, aches and pains will happen. As you grow older, your body ages and discomforts associated with it will occur. You must remember that you cannot completely avoid them (even the super physical active guys). Some things are not in our control. But, if we can somehow tame our chaotic mind and find peace and acceptance with everything around, it might probably alleviate some of our pain and ageing won’t seem that bad anymore.
