An open treasure chest with light coming out of it

Why is it that we can be entrapped in our little world of thoughts, problems and people no matter how distressing it is and face reluctance to simply let it go? Even when you believe you have moved past it, somewhere in the future it comes to haunt you (or so you believe).

No matter how unpleasant and bitter a certain aspect of your life is, it is absolutely impossible to let go of it entirely. You are kidding yourself and people around you if you believe it’s possible. No matter how much you move away from that part of your life, it stays as a locked box somewhere in the corner of your heart waiting to be unleashed. Your vulnerable sensitive moments is what unlocks that little box. If unlocked, you are revisiting that past moment and reviewing the situation associated with it wishing for the ‘ifs’, ‘should haves’ and ‘could haves’. All bearing no fruit but a heavy melancholic heart that very well knows nothing can be altered about that past. Now, we all know that it’s not possible to stop yourself from having a vulnerable moment in your life, then how do we ensure that the box is untouched?

Time is definitely a healer but, can we keep waiting for time to pass while in the meantime you wallow about it every time that box reopens? Certainly not, and though you consciously make an attempt to move on, it may find its way to creep into your life. If this cannot be avoided, the obvious option is to accept it.

It’s absolutely fine to accept the fact that your unpleasant past, that you wish never resurfaced, may visit you as long as you can look back at it and see how far you have come from that. You can look back to understand how you have transitioned from what it was then to where you are now. The change and journey you have undergone post that should be your method to face it. Not everything in life is meant to be the way you wished it to be, but it certainly turned out to be better. You may not realize or accept it, but the truth is it did change you for better. The transformation that it brought is something you will be proud of, if not today, sometime in your future. So, let us commit to be strong. If the box opens, you know what to do with it!
