Two smiling stuffed toys seated on a bench

In our bustling “grown-up” life we often forget the simplest action that requires no effort. It’s healthy, it’s beautiful and it doesn’t involve additional effort. I am referring to a hearty laugh. When was the last time you laughed your heart away?

We live in an era where everything around you is built to annoy you. In our daily mundane life of achieving professional goals (maybe personal too), we are so engrossed in our tiresome cocoon that a laugh or a smile is a non-routine action. Are we tuned to behave in a fashion where laughter needs to be separately programmed?  What if life has given you nothing but reasons to frown, “would you still laugh?” Yes, you must. How you may ask? Look around…

We are absorbed in our personal negative world where nothing is on track and failure is our companion. We strive real hard with the hope of achieving a perfect life. But, the truth is there is no such thing. Life is a concoction of good and bad. A perfect life is one where you can embrace both these elements and pass through. So how would you laugh if ‘the bad’ supersedes ‘the good’? You should go in search of the littlest thing that would make you smile. If you are not sure of what that is, you need to be with those who have already found it.

I realized it today when I was watching a children’s animated movie in a theatre surrounded with toddlers. When one of the goofiest scene was played, loud giggles of children filled the room with positivism and happiness. Though I was not sure if the scene was hysterically funny, their laughter reminded me that there was a time when I was like them, living the moment as and when it came, laughing my heart out at anything insignificant. So why did I stop laughing like them? I was too worried about knowing that this laugh was not permanent and I would sink back to my daily woes.Reality is that you can’t escape your present but you can find ways to make your present pleasant. The first step to attain it is through the path of laughter. Laugh merrily whenever you can and the will to confront anything challenging will accompany you in your life’s journey.

Go out and seek for things that brings a sparkling smile across your face. It could be a person, it could be an object or it could be a gesture. Anything and everything, no matter what it is, I assure you there is something that awaits you. It doesn’t matter how silly or goofy it is. Go out and tickle yourself!
