blurred light spots

It’s not easy to hope for something absolutely fantastic to pop into this little mind of mine which I can smoothly fantasize and write about. Sometimes the mind is blank, numb; absolutely nothing flows pass it, something like the ECG monitor that goes with a linear motion when the soul leaves the body (that’s from movies, by the way). I would like to analyze this phenomenon (like a scientist) and term it as ‘mind hibernation.’ Yes, that’s right, humans can hibernate too, especially the mind!

Remember an instance when a person was reciting something intriguing/shocking/ depressing/ joyful to you and you reciprocated with a poker face or maybe with an expression that meant, “I’m just pretending to respond in the way you want me to (based on your narrative expressions) as I really don’t care about it but I do care about your feelings.” The problem is not because you were deaf, but because your mind switch was turned off (not the turn off you are thinking of). Now wait a minute, isn’t this a result of your mind wandering off elsewhere? Probably thinking of something else?  Well, my dear friend, there is a significant difference between a mind wandering and a mind hibernating.

When your mind wanders or loiters anywhere other than the present, your mind is under process and highly active but a hibernating mind sends no signal, it’s similar to a factory shutdown. At this point, you tend to think from your heart or gut (or from some valuable organ of your body) and respond like a goof. You may end up getting unpleasant reactions from the speaker/listener maybe with a few foul words too, but hey your mind was switched off, you had no idea what was happening.

So why or when does the mind tend to hibernate? That’s a valid question; let me answer it this way. Can’t you see, how I wrote an article on absolutely nothing (like Jerry Seinfeld says, “This is a show about nothing!”).  Obviously, I wasn’t using my mind while penning this down.  Maybe, my mind was in fact hibernating. Oh but wait a minute, the joke’s on me if your mind was hibernating while reading this. Wow, get it, Christopher Nolan- Inception style; hibernation while hibernating.

It’s a miracle, if you read this article!
