End of the year. We reached this far! Most of us battered and suffered to get here, didn’t we? Kudos for making it! Thankful for being alive and kicking. It was a tough year for many. I remember entering the start of this year 2021 with the hope that the pandemic would die down by year end, and everything will resume to normal. While almost everything resumed to normalcy, the pandemic is far from over. We are going to enter 2022 knowing that ‘pandemic uncertainty’ will continue but, we will keep moving.
This year was pretty bonkers for everyone. Fortunate are those who had a cracker of a year. For most of us, it was a roller coaster of sorts. I faced a lot of lows this year but combined with a few highs, this year is probably ending on a mixed bag of confrontation, clarity and closure. With fingers crossed, looking forward to a year where things are favourable.
After more than a year of not meeting friends, this year made those visits possible. Was able to catch up with a few close ones and that felt great. Few more are pending and I guess that plan will move onto 2022 (hopefully). I had bursts of writing cycles this year. There were months where my pen was on fire and others where the ink simply dried up. The same with reading. Lots of peaks and troughs. I was able to pick up a few lost hobbies which faced swing-like energy as well. The baker in me was mostly tired this year. Barring few experiments, the enthusiasm was nowhere close to the pandemic-induced baking spree of 2020. Now, that was something!
This year was a year of realizations. A lot of revelations with not just ourselves but also with the complex relationships around us – rediscovery of an old friendship, a stronger tie of an existing relationship, new bonds.. Many things happened. In addition, what we thought was eternal and unshakeable transformed to show that nothing is unbreakable. Bonds were shaken, trust was broken. A commonly used phrase makes more sense than ever- ‘times change, people change.’ In the end, it’s all about choosing what brings you peace. You win some, you lose some, and that is life. Even if you have to fight the world on your own, you will have to do it. Because, you can.
It was important to address whatever menace was disrupting our daily functionings. Physical and mental, every issue needs to be addressed by you. It’s never too late to fix anything: the realization to fix is the biggest step to recovery. May all of us find the courage to do it. May this new year bring strength and courage to find peace with oneself. For those who already had a great year, may the new year continue to bring you happiness. For those who had it tough, let’s enter 2022 with hope and optimism. Always remember if you feel you are at the bottom, the way ahead from there is only upwards.
To a positive New Year 2022! Cheers!
